To start, it's pronounced "H-wire-ah," it's the powerful Pagani Zonda's replacement, and Huayra Tata, a South American wind god, is the inspiration for its name. The 1,350kg Huayra, a mid-engined hypercar with a greater power-to-weight ratio than a Bugatti Veyron SS, uses a 6.0-liter 60-degree V12 from AMG with two turbochargers to deliver roughly 700 horsepower and 728 lb-ft of torque. Translation? less than 3.5 seconds from zero to 62 mph and "over" 230 mph. Horacio Pagani decided against using a dual-clutch since the increased weight (70 kg) above a regular sequential wasn't a trade-off he wanted to make. Instead, he used a seven-speed sequential that drives only the rear wheels.
