Orange Colored Butterflies
Orange Colored Butterflies
MONARCH
The Nymphalidae family includes the milkweed butterfly (subfamily Danainae), also known as the monarch butterfly. Depending on the area, the Monarch is known as milkweed, wanderer, common tiger, and black-veined brown. It is regarded as an iconic pollinator species and arguably North America's most well-known butterfly. Although it is noticeably smaller and has an additional black stripe across each hindwing, the viceroy butterfly is similar in color and design.
VICEROY
The Viceroy is mainly found in North America, Canada, and Mexico and is frequently confused with the Monarch. In 1990, it was designated Kentucky's state butterfly.
BANDED ORANGE
Other names for this butterfly include orange tiger, banded orange, and banded orange heliconian. It belongs to the Nymphalidae family of butterflies and is a monotypic genus. Native to Brazil and central Mexico, the banded orange is occasionally spotted as far north as central Florida during the summer. Males have broad black stripes on a brilliant orange background, while females have fuzzier black stripes on a duller orange background.
CRUISER
The standard cruiser, or Vindula erota, is a nymphalid butterfly found in tropical South and Southeast Asia's wooded regions.
JULIETTE
The Juliette is a nymphalid butterfly species in the Neotropical ecozone. It is a member of the Heliconiinae subfamily and is widespread in Central and Southern America, from Mexico, Honduras, and Costa Rica to Brazil.
GULF FRITILLARY
The Gulf fritillary, often called the passion butterfly, is a vivid orange butterfly that belongs to the Heliconiinae subfamily and the Nymphalidae family. In the past, that subfamily was known as the Heliconiidae, a distinct family. In contrast to other butterflies, the Heliconiinae are "longwing butterflies" because of their long, narrow wings. The single species in the genus Agraulis is the Gulf fritillary. The southern United States, including several parts of Florida and Texas, is where Agraulis vanillae is most frequently found.
LEOPARD BUTTERFLY
A species of heliconiine butterfly, the leopard lacewing is found in Indochina, southern China (southern Yunnan), and India. Its distribution has grown over the past few decades but has only recently reached Singapore and the south of the Malay Peninsula.
