Build: 30 Rockefeller Plaza

I couldn't resist. I had to stage the size-comparison photo with Lego Chewie in a little goofy way because of this building. It then insisted that I convert it to black and white. Deal with it, then. I am aware that some people prefer only to complete the more challenging models. I also like the difficult models. However, there are occasions when it's pleasant to relax and take pleasure in a rapid, easy-breezy build. And when I started this build, that's what I wanted. I didn't feel let down.

Unfortunately, it doesn't really represent my greatest work. The folds in the small strips that run up the intriguing side of the structure don't appear to have been where I expected them to be. It seems that several of the places where it folds back to create a "roof/balcony" are protruding at odd angles. Additionally, there are multiple spaces visible between this building's horizontal "layers." If this were done with more accuracy, it would look even better. It's a rather interesting, almost whimsical architectural design. Even though I couldn't have told you what it was before I constructed it, I like it.

As I mentioned before, the Washington Monument is a really simple build. Of course, it's not the easiest building, but it's not that difficult either. It was also refreshingly simple. I needed a vacation because I've been working on a lot of lengthy, intricate constructions lately.

However, being easy does not imply that being lazy does not make mistakes simple. Don't be me, then. Instead of being lazy and folding the trim strips, you begin generating at the beginning, take your time. Be sure you know if you should start with a zig or a zag. I had to go back and undo the folds I had made because I started with the incorrect one and didn't recognize it until I had made multiple folds. Additionally, reversing folds is an excellent strategy to break pieces if you know anything about making mistakes when developing these models. Fortunately for me, I took it really slowly and carefully and didn't break anything.

I don't believe I made any other faults except that one. Attaching the small side building was the only extremely annoying aspect of the build. I don't know what I did wrong, but it is trying to slant outward and not want to stand up straight. When it came to aligning and fastening each tab, it was incredibly recalcitrant.
